USB Drives in Walls
Across New York, there are USB drives embedded in walls, buildings and curbs. The idea is to create an anonymous, offline file-sharing network in public space. The drives are completely public and anyone can plug in to drop and download files.
Soon we will need something like this for Fandom.
ten bucks says they’ll all be full of porn and viruses within a week
duuuuude.
I glance both ways, then do it again, before hurrying across the street. My laptop is tucked securely (and loaded with the first three episodes of BBC Sherlock) into the bag at my side. I approach the brick building cautiously, running my fingers across the wall as I stroll down the dilapidated sidewalk.
My fingers brush something metal, and I pause. Got it. I double check to make sure no one’s watching (THEY are everywhere, waiting.) I’m safe. I pull out my laptop and hurriedly connect it to the USB port, then copy the Sherlock files onto the stick. Done. I pull my computer away, stash it back in my bag, and run like hell was after me.
Someone will be there soon, with another computer- they’ll connect it, claim the episodes, and then drop them at yet another location.
If we’re caught, it means certain fines and imprisonment. But we do it.
For the fandoms.
This will be the new geocacheing
Wait and see
